After being in business for so long, Palmer seems to have developed a rather unique way of releasing their movies. They have started posting the movie clip online first and then offering a description and some basic plot details on the same day. In some cases they post a teaser scene on the same day and then finally offer it to their viewers the next day. It is an interesting strategy, though if they were going to release a full length feature film, they would probably do something a bit more drastic, such as showing the entire movie at once.
Palmer's first release was the movie, "Follow The Yellow Brick Road." Directed by Luc Jacquet, this is a true ensemble drama about a young married couple who travels across Europe in search of their destiny, in the hopes of finding their happily ever after. The film stars Dane Dehausser and Stephanie Meyer, and although it's not exactly the greatest movie, it did win four Academy Awards and was one of the sleeper movies of 2021. Other than the incredibly brief ending, the rest of the film was paced and acted wonderfully.
Two weeks later, Palmer released "Dumb And Dumber" with Jeff Daniels reprises his role as Lloyd Christmas. This time, the movie got good reviews from almost everybody who saw it, and was a big hit. Although it didn't receive the widespread audiences that follow, it still managed to rake in a respectable amount of money at the box office. The reason for its success is simply because it's a great movie, and those who love it will probably keep coming back for more of Palmer's work.
One movie that I feel is oftentimes left out of lists due to its low budget is "A Dangerous Man." Sure, it's a low budget movie, but the movie itself is very exciting and engrossing. Starring Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway, the movie takes place in 1960s New York City, and centers on the trial of an escaped convict who was involved in many crimes. If you're looking for a movie that might just have a little too much action for your taste, this is definitely a great choice. Though it has only received a modest amount of publicity, I believe that it's one of the better Man Who Loses His Memory movies.
Finally, there's "Man On The Moon," which was one of my favorite films from the 1970s. The movie itself is about an ambitious space traveler who lands on the moon. "Man On The Moon" also stars George Clooney and Jack Nicholson. This movie was directed by Steven Spielberg, and although it didn't do well at the box office, it has enjoyed a resurgence of interest in the last few years thanks to its winning screenplay and winning Academy Award for Best Picture. This classic science-fiction movie is worth the time and investment only if you have a short list of candidates for the best science-fiction film of all time. This is a definite must-see movie.
I hope that I haven't forgotten any of your favorites. Of course, I don't wish to leave you with the misconception that every movie I mention must be great. That would be a severe mistake. As a matter of fact, that's precisely why I wrote this article. I'd love to hear what other people think about my suggestions so that I can make my own list of must-see movies.
