The American Dream has been a core component of American society and identity; it is perhaps the most familiar concept to domestic and international viewers alike, for the simple reason that it has been repeatedly explored in popular media. Whether it is a small family owned diner, a down-to-earth diner somewhere in Southern California or a massive skyscraper in the Financial District, the American Dream has been a constant in our society since the country's inception. From the movie industry to popular culture, from song to advertising jingles, the American Dream has permeated our popular thought and is synonymous with achievement and success. This article will explore a few of the more prominent portrayals of the American Dream in popular media today.
In the last ten years or so, an increasing number of movies have depicted the American Dream as it relates to the American pop culture. As the economic condition of the USA and the American economy has worsened in the past decade or so, the idea of the American Dream has expanded far beyond what it was during the prosperous years of the 1980s. In many films, the idea of the American Dream has undergone a tremendous amount of evolution, from the modest housewife waiting tables to the multi-millionaire entrepreneur setting up his own company. As the film industry continues to make more movies about the American Dream, the idea will continue to spread into the mainstream of society, inspiring even more people to realize their potential and attain their American Dream. Because of this, it has become one of the most popular genres among the movies of the last ten years.
Online also plays an important role in the depiction of the American Dream. Because of the widespread use of the Internet by a majority of American citizens, nearly all films and TV shows now incorporate some form of online interactivity, whether it be through blogging online multiplayer games, or just simple text chat. In fact, many American programmers and film producers have produced popular online comedies such as "The Social Network," "The Knick" and "Million Dollar Baby" based on the online interactivity of the web.
Of course, the United States has not been without its own share of online comedies and social networking sites. For example, one of the most popular online websites in the United States is Facebook. Started in 2021 by a college student who would become known as Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook has become one of the most popular websites in the entire world with over 500 million users. The website has enabled millions of people in the United States and around the world to create personal pages, connect with friends, classmates and coworkers, or even pursue romance.
Another popular culture indicator is found in the current state of the economy. While most people do not see the state of the American economy in a bad light, many still cling to the dream of the American Dream. Many Americans believe that if they work hard enough, they will reach their American Dream and achieve financial success. The current state of the economy and the state of the American Dream are often at odds with one another.
However, even with the current state of the American economy, more people in the United States and throughout the world are beginning to believe that the dream of the American Dream can be achieved. With the amount of people joining the ranks of the elderly and disabled, as well as the large number of college students who are living on only a part time basis from their parents, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the average person to survive on their own. However, the fact remains that the average person still believes that they can attain a comfortable level of economic security through the hard work and intelligence that they bring to their professions. This American Dream, the idea that anyone can live a quality and successful life despite the current economic security, remains strong in the United States and throughout the world.
