The company that brought you the television program "The X-Files" is back with a new series called "The X-Files: I Want To Believe". This series is based on the first five seasons of the TV show and features the return of the characters played by David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Gillian Lipstadt and Frank Sutherland.
The plot of the show revolves around a man named Francis, who is obsessed with the events in the first "X-Files" movie (which was also titled "Mulder And Scully Meet The Were-Monster"). Francis is searching for proof of aliens, and as a result, he goes to a warehouse in Los Angeles where he comes into contact with FBI agent Fox Mulder (Duchovny). In turn, Francis is drawn into a conspiracy surrounding a deadly virus that was released from the warehouse.
In this show, Francis is forced to confront his fear of the unknown and how it can cause his death, while he also must learn that there is much more to life than he initially thought. There are a number of familiar faces from the original TV series, such as FBI Agent Fox Mulder, who is played by James Sutherland and FBI Special Agent Dana Scully, who were portrayed by Gillian Anderson.
Other familiar faces will include FBI Agent Fox Mulder's wife, Vera, and FBI Agent Dana Scully's mother, Mary. There is also a new character: a young boy named Kevin, played by Jesse McCartney. Kevin is a bit different, as he is the younger brother of Dana, and the one who is shown to have a more positive personality in contrast to his sister.
This series will also mark the first reunion of several actors from the original "X-Files" series. Several cast members of the original "X-Files" TV series will be returning to play their characters, which includes David Duchovny as a character who played FBI agent Fox Mulder; Gillian Anderson as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully and Frank Sutherland as FBI Agent Dana's father, Jack Mulder. This reunion will also bring back former actor/singer David Duchovny as his character, Walter Skinner.
The "X-Files: I Want To Believe" will premiere its tenth season on Fox at the beginning of 2020. Its series premiere will also mark the 100th anniversary of the release of the first "X-Files" movie.
The show will feature the talents of series creator and executive producer Chris Carter, who has been credited as the showrunner of the series. He will also be an executive producer, along with Glen Morgan, John Shiban, Robynolds, Duchovny and Evan Rachel Wood.
The show has already been renewed for a second season, which is scheduled to begin on July 5th. If the ratings for the season premiere are anything to go by, "The X-Files: I Want To Believe" may continue to be a very popular show.
